about us

Kuzidi is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded to improve the lives of children who suffer trauma and/or loss. Hurricanes, wildfires, violence, displacement, and forced detention are only some of the risks and challenges encountered by our nation’s children.

Sherry Bushue’s personal experience as a child placed in protective services and her professional work as a social worker, educator, and publisher of children’s books drive her passion and help guide her as founder of Kuzidi.

Studies show that health and education are dual components for wellness and growth. Research reveals that exposure to intense or sustained stress can physically alter children’s brains and bodies, disrupt learning, and negatively impact their immune systems.

Our wish is for each child who experiences loss or trauma to be given a comfort kit of their own. A pack that is theirs to take wherever they may go. We focus on books, products, and services that promote positive physical and mental health outlets to support the whole child so they may move forward to a better future.

Even in the face of extreme challenges, we believe learning provides hope.
