refugees

Natural disasters, wars, pandemics, and other traumatic situations leave children in frightening and difficult circumstances.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees reports 79.5 million internally displaced people, refugees, and asylum-seekers––a record high.

Over half of these refugees are children.

The numbers continue to grow. [UNHCR]

29% percent of U.S. physicians are immigrants, as are 15.7% of registered nurses, 13.6% of respiratory therapists.

thank you

– to the immigrants whose contributions to their adopted countries cannot be overestimated.

We are grateful for the immigrants who are physicians, the registered nurses, the respiratory therapists, medical workers, and many, many nursing assistants, home health aides, and personal care assistants. You keep our food chain, manufacturing, and retail establishments humming.

Immigrants continuously repay the kindness shown them by contributing hundreds of millions in state and local tax revenue and spending billions of dollars in the local economy.
